Re: What car did you learn to drive in?
A 1970's orange hatchback Ford Pinto, I was 7 or 8 steering, you know I believe I was younger about the steering, 11 when I was driving, 16 driving alone. I could turn off the key and it would still run. No accidents involving other cars or people thus far.

I remembered my tutor, will sit beside me while I drive round the field, gradually progressing to driving on the road.

me it was a caprice 1975Austin A40 of about 1960 (not the earlier A40 Somerset or Devon from the 1950s - I'm not that old!Like the Triumph Herald it was much favoured by driving schools. Compact in size it had the useful feature of a nearly vertical rear so that there was very little "car" beyond the back window.
Passed test at second attempt. Life was simpler back then e.g. no written test to take.

Yes mine was a caprice 1975 big carHi Natasha,Keep in mind I'm Canadian,so most here won't know what car I'll be referring to.
I learned on my moms 1980? Mercury Zypher. It was baby blue, and was auto.
Nice mid-sized car for a young girl to learn on,although it was horrid in the snow.
Natasha.
i'd no idea what that car was so I looked it up, looks like quite a big car for something called mid size but I know you have things bigger in Canada than we do in the uk. I learned on a tiny ford KA, a small supermini car but it was ok. Way better than the deisel vauxhall my instructor also used for a spell!!
Why was the mercury horrid, horrid in snow did you say??

The car I learnt to drive in didn't even have air conditioning....An ooooold school Saturn with crank windows. The AC didn't work either haha good times.
Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece.
