Being stared at

When was the last time? Does it make you feel uncomfortable? I am currently being stared at.

When was the last time?
I thought this woman was staring at me in the doctor's surgery this afternoon, until I realised that se was watching the television and I was sitting next to it.
Does it make you feel uncomfortable?
Depends on the person.

On a train Monday morning by a man with open mouth. I hate it, it makes me feel very uncomfortable. It also feels quite threatening in a quiet place. By all means glimpse but never stare.

i'd disagree, men use prolonged eye contact as a direct challenge to other men, so if a man is staring at another man it is usually with aggression, whereas women are often leered at, which is unsettling, but not dangerous in itself.
When a woman stares at another woman it doesn't usually signal imminent violence, or intimidation.

Whether or not it is dangerous would depend on the situation.

Ever had a young child stare at you? It can be rather unsettling, even though a such a young person is no real threat, it's still disconcerting.

It is very disconcerting because they will stare hard at you for ages unless stopped. It does suggest though that staring comes completely naturally to a child and we only learn to find it uncomfortable and threatening in later life.

I was in our village shop a while ago and there was a little girl, about 3, crying and telling her mum that she wanted to go because we were all scary people.

Why was the person staring and what were you doing and where were you? iy would be unsettling but depends on the circumstances from a man staring at you at the bus stop or just some drunken sot staring at boobies from a whole 4 foot away thinking he is being discrete or one of the kids just staring blankly from time to time

but this situation does not occur out of the blue. So unless there is something going one between the two men, men will not stare and rarely look at other men.

And gay men that look, tend to be a bit cheeky about it, but not really stair. A stair would most likely produce aggression on the non gay man being starred at. Even with gay men, I've only been glanced at, not stared at, and they generally smile, though for me to have noticed, it was more than a quick glance so as not to be caught.
