Who is your favourite comedian? I was a great admirer of Ken Dodd.

Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. The best stand up routines I have ever seen. But Billy Connolly in his prime ran them both close.

I saw Billy Connolly in about 1973/4 in what would have been his coke and booze years. He was as pissed as a cricket but very, very funny. My older brother got tickets and took me along. Humour is a personal thing isn’t it? I preferred Richard Pryor to Eddie Murphy, whose trademark hiccup laugh irritates the arse off me.

hehehe I missed this, and had started my own thread on this.

Love Steven Wright He was so unique

Robert Schimmel is my favorite dirty one

I enjoy Mitch Hedberg, very odd, but tire of him after bit.

Oh, and I love Sarah Silverman

and I just found out about Natasha Leggero

I first encountered Billy Connolly's humour via an LP in 1973 (although I might be a year out there). One of my father's friends, a taxi driver who had recently arrived from Glasgow, had what was, if I recall correctly, a live recording on LP of one of Connolly's early public performances. I think he had it sent out to him from Scotland, as I'm pretty certain that you couldn't get anything by Billy Connolly in Australia back then. Crude and vulgar, but very funny.

Also, speaking of crude, vulgar and Scottish, but very funny, does anyone remember Matt McGinn?

I don't think Australians noticed Billy Connolly existed until at least a couple of decades later.

I am a big fan of the late Dave Allen, one of the few comedians to get funnier as he got older.
