American Embassy

Donald Trump has decided not to visit London to open the new US embassy. What do you think about this?

As I am British it really makes no difference to me who opens the new US Embassy. I suppose Donald Duck would do a good job, but as reported he has passed on the opportunity.
If it were a reverse scenario and the UK were opening a new Embassy in the US, I would like to think that as the US is our closest ally and the world's biggest economy, our Head of State would do the honours. However, as her Majesty is ageing now let Charlie or Billy boy go, though the principle is the same.
I have met someone I cannot live without rather than someone that I can live with.

What he Tweeted was "Reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration having sold perhaps the best located and finest embassy in London for "peanuts," only to build a new one in an off location for 1.2 billion dollars. Bad deal."

Unfortunately it was actually George W Bush's administration which originally made the decision to move the embassy. He wont be missed, other than by The Maybot.

The Grosvenor Square embassy was closed, in part, due to security concerns, including those who lived and/or worked nearby.

The fortress type out of centre replacement was entirely funded from the proceeds gained from the sale of the original site, at no cost to USA taxpayers.

I somehow doubt it.

Is there any part of this statement which is true?

Yes, that he's not a fan of the Obama administration is almost certainly true.

The real reason he isn't going is obvious.

At least it saves the British tax payer a lot of money on security funding.
