Professor Marston and the Wonder Women

Postby emilycurious » Thu Feb 01, 2018 7:16 pm

Finally got to see this July 4th, post fireworks, (and post sex!)
It was interesting but not great.
And weird. Spanking and bondage doesn't do anything for me.
And we tried after the movie - and even with two beers each it wasn't even funny.
I did read Jill Lepore's book "The secret history of Wonder Woman" several years ago - I forget when that came out, 2014? - and it was fascinating and very different from the "truth" in the movie, which was reiterated by this piece by one of the grand-daughters in the Hollywood Reporter - Christie Marston - where she says 'It was a rude surprise to see the film promoted as "the true story."'
And no disrespect to the Marstons, they were not quite as attractive as the "stars" in the movie.

"Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them." Attributed to Margaret Atwood.
