Some are still unopened. Sending them to the homeless shelters today.

Re: Things you have too many of

I finally threw out my tupperware box of plastic can lids (organized by size) I have lots of jackets/coats, and still need more. Never enough watches either. I realised when you said this , how many coats and jackets I have.. lots! But, they are like old friends even though some are well past their...

Re: Brexit deal?

Can we define Connections? They will be an Irish parent, surely. It is not possible to secure an Irish passport by simply stuffing a few euros into a brown envelope is it ? I am making a serious point, as “entrepreneurial” as Ireland is it surely hasn’t become a banana republic yet.

Re: Brexit deal?

How about this? I have two friends who are Little Englanders. They're so wealthy in or out won't affect their lives and still they voted Leave. It put a strain on our friendship for some time. Now I discover they're getting Irish passports. This doesn’t really surprise me. Quite a number of people ...

Re: The Poppy Taliban

I haven't encountered anyone saying that you should or shouldn't be wearing a poppy nor, come to that, have I encountered anyone selling them, although I probably will tomorrow. I was minded to refresh the post after seeing a spate of finger wagging bossiness on the telly and hearing the account of...

Re: The Poppy Taliban

That’s a fair point. I wear a poppy , if necessary, from 1st to the 11th of November. I think that I accept and understand the drum banging but it’s the unthinking , dictatorial air of compulsion From a vocal minority that I find unacceptable.

Re: The Poppy Taliban

To be clear, buying a poppy is a bit knee jerk for me I always buy one because “ it’s that time of year”. It’s ok with me if people choose not to, to me it’s a charitable donation... a flag day. It seems that an increasing number of people believe that the purchase and display of a poppy is compulso...

Re: The Poppy Taliban

This year I am attending a parade and have bought the poppy. However, the whole issue of Poppy tyranny has boiled over yet again in the media. Where is this going to end?

Re: Red meat tax

Why a duck? Duck breast is red meat. I saw a thing that said it was better to eat cow than chicken because you had to kill less animals. But chickens aren't bright enough to realise they've been killed. I’ve got six cockerels who manage the garden...eat the dog S*** and scratch out the moss and cwt...
