I go thru phases.
I think after watching 2001 that was my worst, really obscure and obtuse avante garde, although I did discover Glass.
Ever seen any of the Greenaway films - see Drowning By Numbers or The Belly of an Architect or The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover, or the Draughtman's Contract - most are scored by Michael Nyman (although Belly is Wim Mertens) - Nyman also did The Piano. Awesome.
Couple of months ago I was revisiting classic prog, and before that Tangerine Dream was playing non-stop.
I've just been on a Joe Boyd kick - Fairport, Drake etc
I feel a Bowie and Iggy phase approaching... to clear out the cobwebs...

I'd seen The Cook, Th His Wife & Her Lover, but don't remember if I liked it or hated it. I know i hated and couldn't finish Aria. I did like the Piano.

The only way to understand 2001 is to read the book. basically, in the end, he becomes part of god.
I'm really not into too much classical, but adore this Brahms Violin Concerto in D major Op.77, Itzhak Perlman, or Gustav Mahler- Adagietto give it a wirl

The John Wayne, by Little Green Cars.

It's easy to fall in love
It's easy to fall in love with you

You go outside dressed like that
You knew what was going to happen didn't you
You talk to me like that
You knew I was slowly falling in love with you

You know it's your neglect is the reason that I'm so obsessed with you
And when I asked you your name you said John Wayne
And I guess it's true
Coz then you shot me down doubled over I hit the ground right in front of you
I guess in the Wild West it's ok to shoot the pest that's annoying you

Atlantis by Ken Davis. Don't know if it really counts as a song since it doesn't have any words to speak of, apart from occasional "do do da do" kind of sounds.
