Hidden Figures

Postby Anya.186 » Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:42 pm

The title can be misleading.
This is not about girls with curves.
Instead it's a real story about 3 exceptional black women
working for the US in the NASA space program.
Among their male, genius counterparts, they stood out as super geniuses.

Please see this movie and soar at their success.
So heartwarming!
At the end of the movie end everyone broke out with hand claps.
I used to know everything.

A missing part of history when it comes to the story of the space race.
Excellent flick.

I saw it twice now.
I'm amazed at the disrespect they endured at such a facility.
I know it was just a movie, but still.
I used to know everything.

We, as women, continue the struggle to gain respect, especially women of color.
Until there is an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution, people will continue to discriminate against women.
I have not seen this movie, but I am familiar with the storyline.
It has been said behind every successful man is a good woman. In this case it was several women. Without them, the US race for space would have been unsuccessful.
We must endeavor to persevere.
Some men try to make feminism something about hating men.
I do not hate men. I love all people.
But women deserve equal treatment under the law.
I still have trouble believing that so many women in this country voted for Donald Trump. Not that Hillary Clinton was a great candidate. But how could any woman vote for a womanizer like Trump? He is the epitomizes everything that I dislike about some men. Arrogant, crude, rude, and a first-class jerk. I did not vote so much for Clinton as much as I voted against Trump.
Women fought so hard for so many years to gain the vote. It is imperative that women vote. But vote for the correct candidates.
A vote I would recommend is Iron Jawed Angels. An HBO production, it gives a bit of the history of the women’s movement to gain the vote. Suffragette is another good movie about the women’s right to gain the vote in Great Britain.

Unfortunately we are our own worst enemy.
The Woman's Movement included gender neutrality.
We are not the same as men.
We cannot be free without free men.
As long as we continue to blame everything on males, we will remain trapped.
I used to know everything.

True. But must not fall into the trap of divide and conquer.
We must be united in our goal to achieve equality under the law.
Like those who would impose their morals on us all, there are many women who are afraid of being equal to men. They like the role of servitude and second-class citizenship. We must assure these sisters that they can continue in that role if they wish, but they do not have to right to make us all follow that path. Just as those who do not share our personal moral values do not have the right to impose their values on us.
Anya, dear, I believe were are on the same page.
Though men and women are different, we can still be equal under the law. That is all that I ask.

Sometimes I think we actually have the upper hand.
1. Although stopped many times for speeding, I never got a ticket once.
Meanwhile my older bro has never not got one. LOL.
2. We rule the bedroom
3. We get free drinks just by showing up at most bars.
The guys get the bills.
4. We alone decide everything about the baby.
Name and all.
Father has no say at all. (really unfair I will say)
He just get the bills
5. We can act out as sexually as we want with other adults and do stuff
guys go to jail for. (Ok that is not fair either)
6. We can almost get laid at will, and turn down as many as we want
because more guys are waiting just around the corner.
Hey that's their fault for being so horny.
7. Our word is totally taken over guys almost no matter what the circumstances.
8. We get alimony if our marriage fails and we can claim infidelity whether
it's true or not. They believe us totally.
Yeah in some cases guys can get alimony but it is real rare.
9. If we're in the mood, he better be in the mood......................or else.
10. We decide what's for dinner. Reservations usually.
I used to know everything.

I was astounded that this blatant racism occurred at the highest level of intelligence.
That fact that they were excluded even from honorable mention is an insult to everyone.

I take it that we're not talking about Trump any more.

IDK!
Trump is a separate thread.
But you can pretty much throw in whatever you like from what I can gather here.
